Essendon Interior Design
This home in Essendon had lots of beautiful Federation style features which my clients were happy to keep in the original part of the home as you can see from this entrance but they wanted the overall style to be a little more modern but still cosy and timeless. We agreed a Hamptons style would suit well so these lights were chosen for the entrance. I love them because they have a simple design that doesn’t take away from the nice fretwork details but rather they compliment the entrance with a more modern style.
In this guest bedroom we kept the colours blue, beige and white and I was thrilled to find this stunning tradition rug that helped bring all the colours together. I started the design by choosing the linen buttoned bedhead and then the prints and lamp have a relaxed look that brings in the blue. To have everything available for a guest I added a small clock, decorative tissue box and a vase of flowers to the side table.
In order to keep the home cosy we added timber beaded lights above the kitchen island bench and I think they give the kitchen a modern Hamptons style that I love. We also chose black as a feature colour in the lighting and accessories to give it a more modern look and create contrast.
We had a mix of modern and more classic pieces to create a cosy family home for my clients to enjoy for a long time. The furniture is practical for a family with small children and it looks great too.
Busy families need lot’s of storage and this home has plenty of beautiful furniture throughout that has loads of storage. This drawer console is a perfect example of how to create storage in your home that is practical and beautiful. All these drawers have items like a tissue box, kids hair accessories and little things that can be easily be put away to keep the home tidy.
These nickel Chandeliers with linen shades were installed in all the bedrooms. The main bedroom has a classic grey button tufted bedhead with white linen which is classic and feature cushions in a gorgeous patterned print. The ottoman under the windows is in a matching fabric to the bedhead and it creates a spot to sit down and put on shoes.
I was brought into this project as the renovation was already in progress so I helped choose the lighting throughout the home and the mirrors for the bathroom. These mirrors were perfect for the powder room.
It was an absolute pleasure designing this home for some great clients in Essendon and it is definitely one of my favourite projects.
